December 7nd, 2023, was more than just a date – it marked the beginning of a journey that would change the course of golf at UCSB. That day, a group of friends, Julian, Gabe, Jailey, and Jack, who had crossed paths in a leadership class and found themselves drawn together by Julian’s shared vision, hosted the first UCSB Golf Club Range Day. They set out to build something bigger than themselves – "Project Grow the Game," a charity vision that ultimately brought the UCSB Golf Club to life.

In the summer of 2022, Julian Sidon’s golf journey started on a whim—a random range session with his cousin that, unexpectedly, turned into something bigger. Within weeks, he was hooked, practicing every chance he got, and learning everything he could. Within two weeks he got a job working at a local golf shop, where he quickly moved up the ranks, surrounded by people who lived and breathed the game. Golf wasn’t just about the swing anymore; it felt like a calling to build something that could connect people on a deeper level.

By 2023, with a full President’s scholarship to UCSB, Julian brought his vision to life with “Grow the Game,” a mission to make golf accessible and meaningful. The UCSB Golf Club came out of this drive, built around the idea that golf could be a place where anyone could come together, connect, and grow. It’s more than just a club—it’s a space where players find community, reflect, and enjoy a shared love for the game.

Now, the UCSB Golf Club stands as a spot for anyone who wants to play and be part of something a bit bigger. It’s about enjoying the game, meeting others, and creating a space where golf isn’t just a pastime but a way to build connections and leave a positive impact. This club isn’t just about golf; it’s a laid-back sanctuary with purpose—a place where everyone’s welcome, and everyone grows.
